JanuarySydney Festival - a cultural festival, with music concerts, dance performances, theatre and many outdoor activities. This festival lasts three weeks and more than 500 artists come to Sydney each year. Montsalvat Jazz Festival - This festival takes place in Vistoria region on the Montsalvat Estate. Tamworth Country Music Festival - in Tamworth, New South Wales. National Multicultural Festival - dance, theater, music art festival in Canberra, there is also excellent food. Perth International Arts Festival - this is West Australia's major and oldest festival, for a month film, drama, music, theater, music artists show their best performances here. Bindoon Rock Festival - A music festival in Bindoon, West Australia. MarchAdelaide Bank Festival of Arts - One of the best arts festival, is a large-scale festival. Ten Days on the Island - takes place in Tasmania and in 50 locations across it. AprilBarossa Valley Vintage Festival - the German traditions are shown in this festival. Melbourne International Comedy Festival - a big meeting for comics from every part of Australia and around the world. MayBangtail Muster - takes place in Alice Springs. JuneMelbourne International Film Festival - a very popular film festival, the best one in Australia, lasts two weeks. Sydney International Film Festival - another important festival, takes place in the State Theatre. Cuisine for many parts of the world can be tasted in Australia, many restaurants from different style and different prices, african, thailand, italy, chinese and french restaurants are open to public offering their best dishes. Australian typical food took as base the English food, and is recognized around the world for having a diverse range and quality than any others, and dishes as Crocodile Fillets or Kangaroo Steak make of the Australian food a very special one. Modern Australia cuisine has developed since 1990's and now the best cheffs work hard to get more and more audience. Two main items became of Australian cuisine one of the bests around the world, one is the fresh products as meat, seafood and vegetables that exist in the country and can be found in any region, and the other one is the collaboration of the cuisines of every part from where inmigrants have arrived, specially the North European, Mediterranean and Asian, so it could be said that cuisine in Australia is the great result of mixing up ingredients and recipes from many other countries. Native cuisine is known as 'bush tucker', this kind of food dates back from the beginnings of colonization when first european settlers realized that aborigin people didn't farm the land ans this was happening because of the weather in Australia, instead of that they used to catch turtles, oyster shells, fish and also dolphins, in other regions they caught snakes, kangaroos and emus, then they cooked them in fire and used their skin to protect themselves, plants served also as food in that times, many plants as the mangrove seeds, sea almond and cabbage palm were the favorite by aboriginal women, the diet was also formed by fruits and vegetables, coconut, tomatoes, wattle seeds, grasstree hearts and quandongs. In the last years gay community has increased in Australia, the law against decriminalization was implanted in almost all the states of this country between 1972 and 1991 (Queensland), in some states the age of consent begins at 16 in other at 17, and in Western Australia it's 21. Today exist many organizations in Australia against the homophobia, some of them are: Australian Coalition for Equality (ACE), Community Action Against Homophobia (CAAH) and Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby (VGLRL). A big part of gays and lesbians can be seen at beaches, and they are very friendly so it won't be difficult to get in touch with them. Sydney is popular for being an open mind society, actually it is one of the world's great gay cities, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade is a big-scale annual gay parade and festival, celebrated on June 24 at first and now from 2 February to 3 March, the festival include theatre, music and dance performances, most of times it takes place on the Sydney Opera House. Uluru Uluru is considered sacred by aboriginal people and is part of the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, it's a sandstone rock formation located in Northern Territory and is also known as Ayers Rock, this huge roch has approx. a circumference of 9 km and its color varies according to the position of the sun.
