Los Angeles, also called L.A., is located in California and is the first largest city in the state of California and the second largest in the U.S.A. has a estimated population of 3,844,829 and spans 467 square miles; added in the surrounding five county metropolitan area, and has an area of more than 34,000 square miles, making this the second largest MSA in the nation.This city was founded in 1781 and incorporated on April 4 like a municipality in 1850, 22 months after the end of the Mexican-American War, and five months before California achieved statehood.
